ABOUT US
Carolina Photo Restoration is motivated by a passion to restore and preserve treasured memories in a way that is guaranteed to last. Your photographs have immense value, and they should be preserved the right way, with fade-proof archival quality. Each one of your photographs is treated with the utmost care, and is in our hands from start to finish. We routinely restore, repair, and colorize old and new, faded and damaged photographs from the 1800s to the modern day.
SERVICES
Photo restoration
Beginning with a correct scan or photograph of your original, every part of your photograph is analyzed, restored, and enhanced digitally. After the computer work is complete, the photograph is reproduced as an archival gicleé print that is 100% guaranteed against fading. My prints are made to last!
digital conversion
Advanced scans of all kinds of photographs. Film strips, transparencies, slides, tintypes, cabinet cards…you name it! Every type of photograph can be digitized and provided both through high resolution TIFFs and low resolution JPEGs.
antique framing
We keep a variety of quality antique and vintage frames. These are true antiques and cannot be reproduced. Amongst our favorites are oval frames with convex or “bubble” glass. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you are in the market for an antique frame!

RESTORATION ESTIMATES
Cost estimates will always depend on two things; First, the size you would like for your reproduction to be printed as. Second, the amount of deterioration or damage to your photograph. You would be surprised how much detail can be recovered from a 100-year-old photograph. In fact, the older the photograph is, generally speaking, the better it is for us to work with because of its chemistry!
if it is at all possible, i need to work from your original photograph
What is considered an original picture? An original is the FIRST version of the photograph to be produced. In our modern day, this would be the RAW file, straight out of the camera. Photographs made before the late 70’s and early 80’s contain silver in their emulsions, which retains a great amount of detail. Photographs made after this time, however, are typically common printer inks on a plastic sheet of photo paper, and they contain benzene (the chemical compound which causes medicines to break down). These modern photographs do not hold detail and are visibly pixelated when enlarged. This is why having your originals is always so important.
